Future-oriented measurement technology plays a pivotal role in digitalization
Endress+Hauser offers its customers the real benefits of Industry 4.0
The new Proline 300/500 range of measuring devices is an excellent example of digitalization in the process manufacturing industry. With Wi-Fi, a web server and additional device and process diagnostic parameters, Endress+Hauser is equipping its customers' measuring points for the future and guaranteeing high process and product reliability. Digitalization and data networking enable more efficient production and optimize operational processes, for example maintenance.
The smart sensor characteristics specified in the NAMUR roadmap show which criteria a measuring device needs to fulfill in order to be "ready for Industry 4.0". The new Proline 300 meets these criteria in every respect: In addition to the digital connection via conventional field buses such as PROFIBUS DP/PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus or HART/WirelessHART, it also enables ethernet-based communication via PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and Wi-Fi.
Heartbeat Technology
The continually working device testing system integrated into the measuring devices enables flowmeters to be checked directly in the pipeline. All the tests carried out with Heartbeat diagnostics, verification or monitoring are referenced to the fixed factory status saved in the device and saved automatically.
Up to eight tests can be saved consecutively on the device. Diagnostics data is processed in the device using Heartbeat Technology and can be transferred to a mass storage solution, such as the company cloud, for data mining and analysis.
The processing of the HBSI parameter is a particularly noteworthy feature of the monitoring function: For the first time, it is now possible to make precise statements about the device's "worklist" in applications that are corrosive, abrasive or form material deposits. This enables true predictive maintenance: In connection with further information from the operational environment, the value makes it possible to optimally plan the maintenance at the ideal point in time.
Real-time data availability anywhere in the world
In this context, cloud solutions offer the ideal basis for comparing and matching the collected figures in real time. Process information, such as spare part availability and maintenance personnel, as well as any planned system downtimes, converges in the cloud owned either by the company or provided by Endress+Hauser.
At the same time, information about the device is provided online via the free Endress+Hauser Operations app or from the W@M web-based Endress+Hauser asset management system. Finally, the person in charge of maintenance receives a notification about an upcoming maintenance appointment directly on their smartphone.
